Session Start: Sat May 07 14:31:10 2011 <@Ked> [The Hunt] <@Ked> [Thursday, August 2, 2490 - 1945 local Snowflake time] <@Ked> [The T3M stage, deep in the Academy Building] <@Ked> The clock is running out, with the parents arriving tomorrow, and the crack team of student actors is in the midst of their final rehearsal of their historical pageant. <@Ked> Now if they can just stop laughing... <@Ked> [mini start] * Alex poses dramatically, arms crossed and a foreboding frown visible below the brim of his larger-than-life fairy pad hat. My world is not so simple that a few invaders will conquer it! * Darrell brandishes his hoe. "But your soil is fertile, and your crops are bountiful!" Great Magic propels us, strengthens us, and leads us! * Natsumi poses right back, paintbrush gripped in satin-gloved fist! <@Ked> A swirl of primary-colored sparkles flares around her. * Tasiya watches from offstage, nodding approvingly at Natsu's new, improved, and slightly-less-schizophrenic-looking gloves. * Tasiya claps silently at the special effects! * Takehiko speaks from within an enveloping, rotating holo of Earth. Just his legs and hands stick out. These humans have nursed me back from grave injuries, have learned my secrets, gained my strength. What do you wield which is worse than the woe they have won will - uh, woe, no, wonderfuwwy- <@Ked> From offstage, Takagi yells angrilly, "C'MON, Takehiko, get the line right already!" Well, EXCUSE ME for not being about to read the holoprompter through this damn globe! * Tasiya is glad she is on the other side of the stage. * Natsumi facepalms, then yipes as the holo sparklies around her hand manifest inside her eyeballs. * Tasiya tries real hard not to die laughing, or to laugh audibly at all. She's also lucky to be in the dark because that kind of effort is making her face look awful pumpkin-esque. * Darrell bangs the hoe down. "Can't we just shrink the Earth a little? Even just to let the top half of his head poke out? It's not like anyone is going to miss the North Pole." FEAR, FEAR, THE FELL POWER FROM THE FIELDS OF FRONDS - THE FREUDIAN SLIP! There's nothing Freudian about it, dumbass. * Tasiya can't save herself. She lets out the snerk of all snerks, which leads to a waterfall of giggles that won't stay as suppressed as she wants them. * Takehiko takes a step towards the Spirit of Snowfake, and trips over his own feet, sending the Earth crashing into the black stage tile. * Rachel stands up from her seat in the back, applauding furiously. "WOOOOOOOO!" * Takagi stalks in from the wings. "Cut, cut, CUUUUT." * Tasiya eeps quietly. * Takagi points the dreaded directorial finger at Alex as the Earth struggles back to its feet. "No extra alliteration! No! None! If you get in the habit of improvising now, you're going to say something exceptionally stupid on Saturday and make all of us look like idiots." * Darrell shakes his head and strides offstage, muttering something about a bathroom break. I think Darrell was right, though - Takehiko's got to be able to see out, or this is going to end with some sort of very silly calamity. But he'll need real costume if we shrink the Earth... Tasi? Wouldn't bare arms and legs be best? Ummmm. Well, uhh, if we could find some....hmmm... FEAR! FEAR THE NAKED BOY INSIDE THE HOLO PLANET! * Tasiya dies giggling. * Tasiya coughs herself sane again. "Uhhh, it depends, I could probably pull together something with like blue and green cloth and face makeup." Or if you wanted something more symbolic... Given the level of this production, symbolic is probably better. We could dress him in, like, bits of traditional clothing from Earth and stuff. Well, things that look like bits of traditional clothing, anyway. Can you scrounge something fast enough? And we could try to paint his face so he looks a little bit like someone from everywhere on Earth!...if you could get him to stand still long enough, anyway. Um, probably? How much do you think would be good? Or just like something from as many historical eras as possible? No face painting. * Tasiya puffs a little sad sigh at that one. Something broadly representative of humanity would be ideal, I think. Pants! Nothing wears pants, besides humans. Reds do! * Rachel has come down to the front row, amused by the conversation. "Have you ever seen native Red clothing? You could call those briefs, but never pants!" So...pants would work then! Good earthy colors. ...I could put a whole lot of cultural garnishes on a pair of pants... Dirtpants! And lots of greeeeeeeen. I think Alex wants a dirtnap. * Rachel giggles hysterically. No, that's Darrell. I still wish we could've changed him to, like, the Spirit of Pioneering, or Innovation, or Exploration, or something like that. The farmer hat is way too big for his head. And I can only pad it so much! We needed a farmer. Most of those others are implicit in the other aspects we're presenting, but farmers... farmers were the core of this colony's first century. ...we're still IN the colony's first century. Can I turn this thing off now? Oh you kids. Don't worry, I'll vote for you even if the Earth walks off the stage and tumbles into the crowd. ...uh, we're being voted on? Wait, what? This wasn't in the rules, was it? Oh, we just kinda forgot to tell you. * Alex shakes his head - the fairy pad wobbles wildly - and walks off in disgust. ..... All the faculty and top administrators will vote on whose performance was the best. It wouldn't be fair if we let the parents do it, you know! ...but...but...based on *what*? And why? And and and and - And the winners - or maybe the top few, if they're shorter, get... well, I shouldn't tell you that! *muttered* Preeee~ssure * Tasiya gulps. But we'll do the vote and announce it immediately at the end of the talent show! So exciting! ...gah. I didn't sign up for this. None of us did! Sooo typical. * Carter looks particularly weird, with her hair pulled up and dyed black to resemble a younger Princess Football's. The giant Australian- rules holo ball that's constantly orbiting her doesn't help. Aw, does wady fwootbwah not wike a widdle competition? If this thing were real, you would be SO. FLAT. Right now. I'm so not scared. Why are you even here? Can't you just leave us poor helpless students alone? * Tasiya nibbles on her lip a little. Oh, Jason shared some highlights with me from the stage feeds, and I just wanted to drop by. So cool! * Rachel waves her hands excitedly. * Takagi sighs. I suppose it's a really really really cool prize? * Takehiko has been muttering to his EI, and suddenly the Earth shrinks dramatically, now just covering knees to neck. He doesn't look any less silly. If they've been hiding it, it's probably really embarrassing. So I guess that means it's not Exam Skip Day... Definitely not it! Well, if I have to compete, I want to win. PLACES! ...meh. Suckup. * Natsumi strides confidently - Duchesslike! - offstage, trailing sparkles. * Tasiya backs off into the wings again, looking a little more nervous now. I think this just got added at the last instant. It's probably some brainstorm from Michiko. WHERE'S MY SPIRIT OF THE FARMER! I think he's still taking a dump. * Takehiko follows Natsumi. * Carter stomps away. Maybe we can do another scene until he comes back...? * Takagi turns to face the control booth. "And can we get the music on this time!" * Rachel moves a few rows back and settles in. Yeah, okay. Let's skip forward to Football's walk-on. * Tasiya nods, not that it's easy to see backstage. <@Ked> The stage clears, and the back half resolves in HD holo into the side of a SPIAR dropship. Annnnd ACTION! * Carter marches out through a handy ground-level exit hatch, as dramatic music swells... * Carter looks up. "What. The. Fuck." CUT! THAT'S NOT THE RIGHT MUSIC! C'mon, Ellis! Track 12! That's from the other magicsdamned play! It's the right file! THAT'S NOT OUR PRINCESS'S THEME! Though it *is* a Princess's theme, I think. * Takagi looks at Carter. ....no....way. They *couldn't* have...! * Carter looks at Takagi. Sabotage. * Carter sighs. "I guess I go sneaking tonight." * Tasiya blinks and glances in Rachel's direction. * Tasiya then looks back. * Rachel smiles, and pretends she didn't hear that. <@Ked> [end mini] Session Close: Sat May 07 16:36:29 2011
